Dr. Maricela Lizcano

  Research Materials Engineer

Dr. Maricela Lizcano earned her PhD in 2011 from Texas A&M University in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis materials and processing. She began working for NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) IN September 2011 as a Research Materials Engineer. Today she is working in the Materials Chemistry and Physics Branch supporting both aeronautics and space missions. For the past 8 1/2 years, she has been leading a R&D multidisciplinary effort that supports high power and high voltage (HV) hybrid and all electric propulsion systems. The research includes HV test capability development, lightweight electrical insulation and composite conductors research, and multiscale materials modeling. Additionally, Dr. Lizcano  supports other NASA projects as a SME, a Technical Lead for the Foundational Electric Aircraft Propulsion (FEAP)  subproject under the Transformational Tools and Technology (T^3) project. She also serves as a  Topic Lead for the Space Technology Mission Directorate (STMD) Early Stage Innovation 2021 Topic 1: Advanced Materials for High Voltage Power Transmission on the Moon.
